Wanting & Waiting vs Attaining Gratification

Do you realise that sometimes wanting something is more fun than actually getting it?

Or waiting for something exciting to happen is more enjoyable than the experience of going through that something.

In fact, the pleasant fluttering of butterflies during anticipation often happens over a longer period of time compared to the gratification itself (often over in an instant). Hence, I bring up the supposition that wanting & waiting is better than attaining gratification.

Dare I suggest that foreplay is the better part of sex, not orgasm?

When we admire a handsome man from afar, we blush and giggle at the sight of him but when we actually get to know (or date) him, his flaws emerge and the Prince Charming image cracks into a million pieces. And we wished we never got to know him at all for we realised that we were happier admiring him from afar.

When we want that bag/dress/shoe/phone so bad that we walk by the shops just to have another look at it, to feel it, to turn it over in our hands, look it up online and talk about it to our friends. Once we attain it, the hallucinated lustre surrounding it disappears in..a month (if we're complacent by nature), a week (if you're lucky) or an instant (most probably).

My latest object of lust is a camera - a Lumix DMC-GF1 with Micro Four Third technology. Look, even the popped up flash looks to me like a sleek sexy woman beckoning a horny married man to "come get me".

I've been thinking about it since I laid eyes on it this afternoon. I'm lusting for it. I look for pictures of it on the internet and magazines and wonders how it feels like in my hands. I imagine the texture of the 'skin' on my fingertips. I imagine how it feels like to press down on the button with my forefinger. I imagine how I look like with it while others look upon me with envy.

I...am...

NOT going to buy it. So I'm just going to admire it from afar, dream about it, talk about it..and I'll just pick up my practical reliable Fuji compact camera whenever I need to take a picture.

(does this entry sounds like a warning for men who are thinking of cheating? Haha, it wasn't meant to be, but if it serves another purpose, all the better!)
